Forty-one copies were issued featuring a hand-drawn frontispiece; of these, copies numbered 1 through 6 were hand-colored by Marcel Stobbaerts). – The Belgian painter, draftsman, and printmaker M. Stobbaerts (1899–1979)—grandson of the renowned Belgian painter Jan Stobbaerts—received his artistic training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels between 1915 and 1919 under the guidance of Constant Montald. As early as 1924, he was awarded the prestigious *Jeune Peinture Belge* prize. During the 1920s, he experimented extensively with Expressionism, Cubism, and Futurism before developing a more personal, often quieter visual language. His etchings, depicting forays through 1930s Brussels, capture the dynamic nature of everyday life in the city. They employ sharp, at times caricatural lines characteristic of the European avant-garde and the *Neue Sachlichkeit* (New Objectivity) movement of that era. The works draw inspiration from the socially critical and satirical art of the German artist George Grosz.
