Die Aufnahmen entstanden von 1981 bis 1997. – „György Stalter started to make photos of Roma during his student years at the Franciscans in Esztergom. Judit M. Horváth, who after falling in love with her husband, fell in love with his work, photography, was reluctant to accept her identity for a long time, and yet eventually she became the chief-editor of a Romani paper, Amaro Drom for several years. The two of them photographed through practically all the Gypsy settlements of Hungary (in 1993, 13 percent of the five hundred thousand Roma in the country still lived in settlements), and the ghetto-like parts of districts in Budapest“ (G.
