Kipling, Rudyard. Slonenok. (Der kleine Elefant). (Übersetzung aus dem Englischen von Root Chukovsky und Samuil Marshak. Bilder von Vladimir Vassilievitch Lebedev). 5. Aufl. Moskau, OGIZ (Staatlicher Verlag für Jugend- und Kinderliteratur) 1933. 62 S., [1] Bl. mit teils ganzs. Illustrationen. Illustr. OKart. Lemmens/Stommels S. 347. Lévèque/Plantureux S. 151. – Erschien zuerst 1922. – „First in 1922 there was the book Prikliucheniia chuch-lo [The adventures of Chuch-lo] written by Lebedev himself, for which he would introduce a sketchylike manner of pencil drawn illustrations or chalklithogaphs. He conbined this manner with his black and white ink drawings in Slonenok [The little elephant], one of the Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling. The result of his innovative way of creating drawings for children is such that the illustration s for Slonenok are in fact much more dynamic and avant-garde like than the illustrations, also in black and white, that Lissitzky had made fo Yiddish translation of the story that same year in Berlin“ (Lemmens/Stommels). – Umschlag angestaubt, Rücken etwas berieben, im unteren Blattrand teils leicht fingerfleckig und mit Knickspuren, gutes Exemplar.
