Ono, Grapefruit
Ono, Yoko. Grapefruit. A book of instructions. Introduction by John Lennon. London, Peter Owen (1970). Quer-Kl.-8°. [140] Bl. mit einigen Illustrationen von J. Lennon. OPbd. mit illustr. OU. „First British Commonwealth edition.“ – „Burn this book after you’ve read it“ (Yoko). – „This is the greatest book I’ve ever burned“ (John). – Die Sammlung enthält Gedichte, Texte und Briefe Onos von 1953 bis 1969; darunter auch einige Gedichte, welche mit dem Wort „Imagine…“ beginnen. – Diese inspirierten John zu seinem wichtigsten und bekanntesten Song. Erst 2017 wurde Yoko offiziell als Mitautorin anerkannt und mit dem „Centennial Song Award“ der National Music Publishers’ Association ausgezeichnet. – „Actually that should be credited as a Lennon-Ono song because a lot of it – the lyric and the concept – came from Yoko. But those days I was a bit more selfish, a bit more macho, and I sort of omitted to mention her contribution. But it was right out of Grapefruit, her book. … There’s a whole pile of pieces about „Imagine this“ and „Imagine that.“ … But if it had been Bowie, I would have put „Lennon-Bowie,“ you see. If it had been a male, you know. … Harry Nilsson – „Old Dirt Road,“ it’s „Lennon-Nilsson.“ But when we did [″Imagine“] I just put „Lennon“ because, you know, she’s just the wife and you don’t put her name on, right?“ (J. Lennon in einem BBC Interview). – Schutzumschlag fleckig und mit restaurierten Fehlstellen, N.a.V., sonst gut erhalten.
