Als Modefotograf entzieht er sich kurzlebigen Trends, als Bildreporter schafft er starke und zeitlose Bilder. Auf seine Weise vollbringt er jedoch eine Art sanfter Revolution, als er Ende der fünfziger Jahre das Format 24 x 36 mm einführt. … Möglicherweise ist William Klein ihm etwas schuldig und umgekehrt.
